15 Epic Volcano Pics to Inspire Your Trip to Acatenango

Without sugarcoating it, hiking volcano Acatenango in Guatemala was one of the most (if not the most) grueling things I’ve ever done. However, after hours of hiking up the mountain, with an additional nighttime hike to get closer to the erupting volcano, the views and photos we were able to capture made the tough trail entirely worth feeling the sorest I’ve ever been.

The closer photos I was able to capture were after we did the additional nighttime hike for Mount Fuego.

If you’ve seen the Lord of the Rings, the additional hike was akin to Frodo and Sam crawling their way up Mount Doom, which I very much was myself on this second hike.

However, looking back I think the additional pain of the hike was more than worth it to capture these fantastic photos (with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I might add).

So without question, this hike was super tough, but hopefully, these photos will inspire you to make the additional journey on Acatenango up to Fuego.
